Directions to Alamo Lake

Note: the slide-out menu has a specific route from Wayside RV Park

The site is just north of Wayside RV Park. Go north on the airstrip and after about 100 yards. You’ll see a sign on the right that says, “Man Camp.” Follow that dirt road yonder.


Last-Minute Details

  • Fishing License

    • Plan to fish? Be aware they no longer do a trout stamp. Now it’s a combo Hunt/fish license ($57.00 for 1 year / $15.00 per day). They can be purchased at many sporting goods stores and the Wal-mart sporting goods dept. The license must be in your possession (on your person) while fishing.

  • There is an electronic thrower we can use. It is recommend that you buy skeet at Wayside RV.

  • It will be dusty and scheduled to be cold. Bring a few layers.


BASICS

  • Who: Adult men welcome

  • What: Camping, waterskiing, shooting, loafing, eating, fishing, off-roading, exploration of local "Mud Canyon", worlds either largest or oldest cactus, red rock canyon on the other side of the lake!

  • When: Jan 24-26

  • Where: Alamo Lake (directions/map below)

    • Rendevous at Wayside; we’ll camp a mile north.

  • Theme: “Pray Like a Man”

  • Cost & Supplies:

    • Meals provided at no cost.

      • BYO snacks.

      • Bring water: 1 gallon water per-person, per day!

    • Tent camping is free. However, RV hook-up spots are available to purchase in the State park (about 8 miles from where the main group will be located). If so, make reservations ASAP.  Snowbirds will take the bulk of those spaces.

Tentative *Menu:

  • Thursday Dinner @ 1800

    • This is the first organized camp meal and is BYO Meat. The grill will be set up to grill-your-own or Gary can help if you forgot your man card. Sides and dessert will be provided.

  • Friday Breakfast @ 0800

    • Western Scramble, Potatoes, Breakfast Meat, Fruit

  • Friday Lunch @ 1230

    • Creamy Grilled Chicken and Veggie Soup, Crackers, Bread/Butter

  • Friday Dinner @ 1800

    • Korean BBQ Man-wiches, Asian Slaw, Chips, Dessert

  • Saturday Breakfast @ 0800

    • Pancakes, Breakfast Meat, Fruit

  • Saturday Lunch @1230

    • Chicken Quesadillas, Tortilla Chips, Salsa

Coffee will be flowing each morning and through the day. Also, an assortment of savory and sweet snacks will be provided for in-between munchies.

Outstanding Needs

  • Someone to pick up the grill from church.

  • Someone to pick up propane tanks.

  • Stoves/pots so we can get coffee made in the morning.
