In this sermon, we examine the Lord's command not to make graven images. Just how far does it extend, and why? We will also explore and rejoice in certain pictures God has provided to help us see and experience his goodness in Christ.
Today we consider the second commandment and what is called the regulative principle of public worship. Namely, we will consider certain limits God places on how we worship him, both for his glory and our good.
Nowhere are the principles of God’s moral law for humanity more clearly or helpfully epitomized than the Ten Commandments. Tonight, we consider the first command, “have no other gods besides me,” which Jesus called the greatest since all the rest flow from it.
